Flexible Polyurethane Foam Slide Presentation

Slide 27 of 31

Firmness retention is measured in the laboratory using a standardized dynamic fatigue procedure. In the test, a weighted indentor foot compresses the foam sample repeatedly for 80,000 cycles. Change in 25% IFD is then determined. Quality foam products typically retain at least 80% of original firmness. On the other hand, fiberfill cushioning tends to gain firmness and lose comfort during the same test as fibers compact.
