An Introduction To The Flexible Polyurethane Foam Industry is a brand-new industry development program created by PFA member companies and designed to provide an overview on foam chemistry, processing, physical testing, production technology, and value-added benefits in many end-use applications. For those new to the industry, get an inside look at this innovative, far-reaching field that favors an entrepreneurial spirit. For seasoned veterans, it is an excellent refresher on fundamentals.

The program is free of charge and is funded by industry suppliers. Seating is limited, so please register as soon as possible. The session will take place at the Renaissance Vinoy in St. Petersburg, FL on Tuesday, May 24, from 1-5 pm

John Hayes
Covestro


John Hayes is a Senior Principal Research Scientist in Covestro’s Flexible Slabstock Application Development group in Pittsburgh, PA.  He received a BS in Chemistry from Wagner College and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Delaware before joining ARCO Chemical Company in 1986.  He worked in the polyol and polymer polyol process group for 14 years before joining Bayer Material Science, now Covestro, in 2000.  Since then he has had various assignments in Step–out research, Rigid Polyurethanes, Composites and currently works in the Flexible Slabstock Application Development group.

Chris Thiede graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2007 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and double major in Chemistry.

In June 2007, he joined Dow as a Production Engineer in the Market Development Plant, working on scaling up new polyols and polyglycols. Chris is currently a Senior Technical Service Representative with Dow Polyurethanes, working on flexible foam applications.

Amanda Kelmer BASF

Amanda Kelmer graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Polymer Sciences and Engineering.

She joined BASF in 2010 as an Operations Engineer in Polycaprolactam group. In 2011, she joined the Urethane Raw Materials group as a technical service representative. Her work focuses on flexible foam innovations for furniture, bedding and automotive seating.
